The Documentation Centre

The Documentation Centre

The centre brings together a number of written works and old periodicals dedicated to aviation, plans and manuals related to aircraft that today have all but disappeared. An important collection of photographs, part of which has been catalogued, are available for inspection at the centre by interested parties with up to date membership of the AELR.

In principle, the documentation centre is accessible during the opening hours of the MRA but it is advisable to make an appointment beforehand.

The AELR also produces a trimestrial revue, dedicated essentially to the history of aviation in Belgium as well as an electronic newsletter sent to all AELR members.

The Air Historical Team of the AELR brings together members who meet at the Documentation Section every Tuesday. Each one of them is an expert in one or more specialist subjects and they are available to answer questions according to their specialist knowledge. They also take part in the enrichment of the exhibits in the collection, their classification, the identification of rare aircraft and the editing/writing of articles for the trimestrial revue.

The library also keeps the complete collection of the revue Brussels Air Museum Magazine.
